Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 31, 2026
PlantPair ("we", "us", "our") helps you plan, pair, and care for the plants in your garden. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using PlantPair you agree to this Policy.
1. Account information
When you create an account we store your email address, an encrypted password (if using email sign-in) or a provider identifier (if signing in with Google or Apple), your display name, and your account creation date. We use this to authenticate you, secure your account, send transactional emails (password resets, security notices), and let you sign in across devices.
2. Garden and planner data
We store the gardens you build in the planner, including bed and container layouts, the plants you place, planting and feeding dates, photos you upload, notes, the templates you save, and your AskSprout chat history. This content is tied to your account and is used to power the planner, tasks, recommendations, and saved gardens features. You can clear AskSprout history, delete individual gardens, or delete your entire account at any time from Profile → Settings.
3. Location data
If you enable weather alerts or zone lookup, we ask your device for its current coordinates. We use those coordinates to determine your USDA hardiness zone and to fetch local weather forecasts so we can send rain, frost, and heat-wave alerts. We store only the latest coordinates associated with your account so alerts continue while you are away from the app. You can revoke location at any time from your device settings and clear stored coordinates by disabling weather alerts.
4. Push notifications
If you grant notification permission we register your device with OneSignal and store a device token. We use that token to deliver plant-care reminders, harvest alerts, weekly task nudges, and weather alerts that you have opted in to. You can disable any category from Profile → Settings, or turn off notifications entirely from your device settings.
5. Third-party services
PlantPair relies on a small number of trusted processors to operate the service:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for your account and garden data.
- OneSignal — delivery of push notifications to your device.
- OpenAI and Google — AI models that power AskSprout responses and plant recommendations. We send only the question text and minimal garden context needed to answer.
- Open-Meteo — weather forecasts used to generate alerts.
- Apple and Google — sign-in providers and, on iOS, in-app purchase processing for subscriptions.
These processors handle data only as needed to provide their service to PlantPair. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Data retention and deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Deleting your account from Profile → Settings → Danger zone permanently removes your gardens, chat history, notification preferences, and device tokens. Some logs may be retained for a short period for security and abuse prevention.
7. Children's privacy
PlantPair is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
